Uttar Pradesh stretches across the Gangetic plains, from the NCR in the west to the Nepal border in the east. The whole state has a strongly seasonal climate: very hot summers, a humid monsoon and cool winters with dense fog.
The monsoon usually enters eastern UP in the second half of June and covers the west by late June or early July. It withdraws by late September or early October. The east generally gets more rain than the west.
